We’ve all heard about how Dubai has transformed itself in the last 20 years. You really have to see it to believe it though the city’s stunning architecture will take your breath away. Amidst the glitz and glam of the nightlife and shopping, take the time to appreciate Dubai’s buildings and captivating sites, which will be a treat for your eyes.  Let the city and its culture capture your heart. You won’t want to visit anywhere else in the world because Dubai really does have it all. Stuck on what to see? Here are the top five must sees.

Burj Khalifa

Begin your sightseeing in Dubai with the Burj Khalifa, an architectural wonder and the world’s tallest building.  Set your eyes upon it at night, when the building is magnificently lit up and rivals any building in New York. It’s a one of a kind masterpiece, that is striking to look at from the outside, and that’s not even the best bit. The best part is going all the way up to the 124th floor and looking out at the view. You’ll be 442m up in the air. Wow. The view that you will have is just breathtaking and you’ll be sure to be taking plenty of snaps.

Dubai Fountain

If you can, try and watch the Dubai Foundation from the top of the Burji Khalifia. But, if not, you’ll have it as a stunning backdrop. Arabic and world music is played as water shoots 500 feet into the air and gracefully dances to beat, whilst being illuminated by 6,600 lights and 25 coloured projectors. All the bright lights mean you can see the fountain from 20 miles away! Enjoy a vibrant visual and musical experience. Forget the Bellagio Fountain in Las Vegas, this is the fountain you want to see.

Burj Al Arab

If visiting this hotel isn’t on your bucket list, then you need to rewrite it. Admire the impressive exterior from the beach and get a snapshot of yourself with it looming in the background. You’ll treasure that picture forever.  This is one of the most photographed structures in the world. With a creative nod to Dubai’s fishing past, the hotels structure takes influence from the profile of an Arabian sailing ship. It dominates the Dubai skyline with a height of 321 metres and is one of the most iconic buildings in Dubai.

Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum’s House

A fine example of traditional architecture is Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum’s House, one of the oldest houses in the city, which is situated in one of Dubai’s oldest areas. This place is an architectural marvel that you need to witness. The house is a proud reminder of Dubai’s pre-oil era and it holds an outstanding collection of photographs taken in the 1940s and 1950s. Vaulted, high beamed ceilings, arched doorways and sculpted windows characterize this historic building. From the upper floor, you get a spectacular view of the creek and the city’s skyline.

Deira

Before you head home from your travels, stop here. Take in the beauty that is all around you as the old meets the new in Deira. It’s such a constant hive of activity that you’ll be buzzing from all that there is to see. You’ll be sure to have some colourful encounters. Cast your eyes upon Deria’s mosques and old buildings and then look the other way to see more modern structures that epitomises Middle Eastern modern architecture.
