Arctic Monkeys – The Black Keys – Bastille

10-12 July
Lisbon
Weekend tickets from £104.10

On the outskirts of Lisbon, boasting views of the Tagus River, Optimus Alive prepares to celebrate its eighth birthday.  With a daily capacity of 50,000 people, making it the largest festival in Portugal, Optimus Alive is climbing its way up the European festival table and levelling with its older and more established contemporaries.

Optimus Alive is a nocturnal festival, opening its doors at 6pm nightly and promising to keep you awake until dawn.  This year the Optimus Stage will be playing host to the hugely popular acts: Arctic Monkeys and The Black Keys, who will have you singing along in to the early hours amongst the likes of Bastille, MGMT, Daughter and a hoard of other acts which are still waiting to be confirmed.

In addition to the music, Optimus Alive is uniquely partnered with the Biomedical Research Institute: Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência; past activities have included speed dating with scientists, which allow the public five minute slots to ask the ICG scientists questions about science in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

By day, with almost guaranteed sunshine, festival-goers can relax next to the communal pool, or pass out in the shade of the dense pine forests of Parque Ecológico de Monsanto in the Lisboa camping area.  However, if after a 12 hour stretch in the arena you are still raring to go, the small beach town of Cascais, which is a prime spot for surfing and other water sports, is only a short trip away via train.
