University of Georgia Deploys Terra Dotta

Posted: 13th March 2019 14:58

Terra Dotta, the trusted leader in higher education travel, study abroad and international program management solutions, today announced that the University of Georgia (UGA) is using its Study Abroad solution and Alert Traveler mobile app. Sending nearly 3,000 students abroad to participate in 300 programs across more than 60 countries each year, UGA deployed Terra Dotta’s solutions to enhance its comprehensive recruitment and enrollment processes while maintaining a thorough duty of care approach for traveling students and faculty.

UGA’s seven-person study abroad office implemented Terra Dotta’s Study Abroad platform to replace a legacy homegrown database that relied heavily on paper-based processes. Implementing an automated approach has helped UGA expand its combination of faculty-led, university exchange and other affiliated study abroad programs. In addition, the university has centralized its program information for students, automated all application and enrollment processes, and validated the academic rigor of its programs.

“We are proud to work with UGA, one of the flagship creators of public higher education in the U.S., to streamline the management of their robust study abroad program and enable the program’s growth and expansion,” said Brandon Lee, CEO of Terra Dotta.

To ensure effective duty of care for its travelers, UGA also requires study abroad participants to use Terra Dotta’s Alert Traveler mobile app, which incorporates travelers’ itinerary details and smartphone GPS data to proactively send alerts to them if a local emergency situation arises. The app offers push notifications, email and SMS text messaging capabilities to connect UGA directly with affected travelers, issue and track responses to check-in requests, and share safety instructions.
