United Backpackers is our favourite hostel in Melbourne, so it is with great pleasure that we can announce the opening of their latest property in Tropical North Queensland. Last month United Backpackers Port Douglas rolled out the red carpet for their very first guests after four months of renovation. United Backpackers’ first hostel quickly captured the hearts of its visitors with their funky vibes, world class facilities and passion for travel, winning four consumer voted awards, so we are looking forward to seeing how their cool and edgy Melbourne style goes down up north.
The new 144 bed property in the heart of Port Douglas features a great pool area equipped with a big screen cinema for movies under the stars and a pop up poolside bar. There are lots of light and bright spaces for people to relax, a guest bar, brand new kitchen, alfresco dining and a cool BBQ deck area. Accommodation comes with air-con and ranges from four to eight bed dorms, with or without en suites, to some fabulous private Queen Rooms with Foxtel, fridge and tea & coffee making facilities. It doesn’t stop there, with many freebies such as free bikes, Wi-Fi, and daily events like sunset beach picnics, cheese & wine tasting, BBQ’s, pool parties and trips to the local footy.
They are just one of the many reasons that Port Douglas is quickly emerging as an essential East Coast destination for any traveller. Such a spectacular and chilled out town deserves an equally cool hostel, and with United Backpackers flying in their favourite Melbourne based street artist to put the finishing touches to the walls we know that the new hostel will do Port Douglas proud.
