Who says you can’t take to the water while on a classic city break? Brussels may not be by the sea but it still offers visitors to the city the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of diving. Nemo 33 is the brainchild of John Beernaerts, an expert diver who had over 20 years’ experience at the time. His goal was to recreate the comfortable diving conditions of Bora Bora in Europe, providing a warm, safe and unique place for divers to practice – a world away from the cold and stressful experience of learning to dive in the North Sea that he faced. At 34 metres deep, the pool held the Guinness World Record as the world’s deepest for 10 years and is still one of the most popular training sites, attracting divers from around the globe keen to get certified in this unique pool. At Nemo 33 nobody dives alone, so you will benefit from the advantage of a professional diving instructor to make sure you get the most from your experience. The pool is filled with spring water, low in chlorine so it is easy on your eyes and skin. You can even drink it (although you probably shouldn’t).
