Work in a Bar in Cambodia

Hoards of backpackers head across the Thai borders and into neighbouring Cambodia to experience the diverse cultural offerings this country provides.  After days scaling the temples of Angkor Wat, the previous centre of the Khmer Kingdom, tourists are drawn down south to Cambodia’s notorious and hedonistic beach party town.  Sihanoukville is the town of cheap food, two dollar dormitories and 25 cent beer, but why spend that money when you could get it all for free.

Bar jobs here are a dime a dozen, and for the most part your accommodation, meals and alcohol intake will be paid for.  Granted you won’t actually be making any money, but your job will be undemanding and involve making friends from every corner of the globe.  Most positions involve an element of advertising, which simply involves handing out flyers to people on the beach or offering people free shots.  Bar staff will then spend a few hours each night pouring concoctions of alcohol into buckets and dancing around making sure everyone else is having a good time.  It’s an easy life, but someone has got to do it!
