The Prodigy – Iron Maiden – Metallica

4 – 6 July

Knebworth, Hertfordshire

Weekend ticket (inc. camping) £215

The Sonisphere group has been established in Europe since 2009, delivering kick ass rock and metal festivals every summer since in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Finland…and the UK.

Held in the grounds of Knebworth House since its inception, Knebworth Park is celebrating this year ’40 years of music’.  The first ever festival held here, in 1974, was headlined by the Allman Brothers Band – fast forward four decades, and Knebworth has welcomed a whole host of international stars through its gates, including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Oasis and Robbie Williams.

But what does Sonisphere bring to the party?  The very first event, back in 2009, was headlined by Metallica and Linkin Park.  Returning in 2010 by popular demand, Sonisphere rocked out Knebworth with the help of Alice Cooper, German industrial metallers Rammstein and Iron Maiden.  Setting something of a precedent, they returned for the festival’s third outing, featuring in thrash metal’s ‘Big Four’ alongside Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth.  Excited yet?

Well you should be, because in an exclusive UK performance,Metallica will be taking to the grounds of Knebworth once more this year, appearing by request.  Fellow headliners from the inaugural event, Linkin Park, will also be returning as Special Guests.  But that’s not all, metal fans – Iron Maiden will be headlining Saturday, and they set to be worth the entrance price alone, with a guaranteed amazing set and of course, their mascot Eddie in tow.  Prodigy may not be the obvious choice for a rock and metal festival, but trust us when we say their ‘psycho somatic’ performance will not fail to whip the crowd up into a frenzy.
