The Canadian Rockies

Towering over Alberta and British Columbia are the peaks of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.  These exquisite summits are a sight to behold year round, thanks to their encapsulating beauty which changes with each new season bringing it with it a host of new activities.  The towns of Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, Fernie, Kimberley, Waterton, Canmore, Kananaskis, Invermere, Revelstoke, Golden, Valemount and Cranbrook are certainly worth a stop and are ideal starting points for mountain adventures.

Canada has always been an adventurer’s playground and the Rockies are its massive climbing frame.  Live out the classic mountain past time of toasting s’mores over a fire at a cowboy ranch, go on a wildlife trip on the search for the Rocky Mountain’s version of the Big Five – elk, moose, deer, wolf and bear!

The Rockies are also home to one of the most magnificent highways in the world.  The Icefields Parkway is filled with stunning blue glacial lakes, breath-taking white waterfalls and crystal clear mountain streams.  Up above the highway, tucked in the mountain peaks themselves, the glaciers of Banff and Jasper National Parks.  These staggering rivers of ice are all that remains of the once expansive North American ice sheets that used to cover the entire northern and alpine regions of North America.

Adventure and the Rockies go hand in hand.  In the summer there are activities such as river rafting and rock climbing - you are free to hike and bike your way through these sensational canyons to your hearts content.  When the ice descends, the activities don’t dry up either, of course there are a plethora of skiing and snowboarding opportunities as well other great activities like dog sled tours, snowmobile tours, ice walks, ice climbing and ice fishing amongst other exciting activities!
