North Sulawesi, Indonesia

Nomad Divers are a PADI certified dive resort nestled in a beautiful, sheltered bay on the picturesque Bangka Island run by Sophie and Simon Foote.  They offer world class diving coupled with an authentic island experience and the chance to become part of a friendly, close knit community of divers.  Their picturesque beach resort was built with the help of the local community using traditional materials and is the perfect place from which to explore the stunning underwater world around North Sulawesi, Bunaken National Park and the Lembeh Strait.

The Lembeh Strait is regarded as possibly the greatest muck diving site in the whole world, while Bunaken has fantastic wall dives.  The range of dive locations and unmatched biodiversity, with thousands of different fish species, means that there is always more to see.  Beginner divers have access to some fantastic sandy bays with calm waters that are perfect to learn in, and Nomad Divers run a very popular Divemaster Internship programme.

Divemaster Internship

Get FREE Unlimited Diving While You Gain Diving Qualifications!

The Divemaster course is the first professional training that divers undergo.  Nomad Divers offer PADI Divemaster certifications that are recognised around the world and can be completed in as little as three weeks, but also offer a longer internship route.  This provides divers with more time to make the most of their tropical paradise, and really get to grips with the skills needed to be a professional diver.  By helping to maintain dive gear and boat every morning, training to provide oxygen, compressor training and helping manage the busy dive centre; interns gain invaluable experience whilst being able to complete their Divemaster course at a discounted rate.  But that’s not all, interns get FREE unlimited diving with guests included as part of the course so they will gain loads of experience underwater!

Choosing Your PADI Course

Nomad Divers pride themselves on their beginner-friendly approach to diving.  They have dived all around the world, gaining years of experience, but most importantly, are patient, safety conscious and friendly.  They have taught hundreds of people to dive over the years – including many who were nervous upon arrival, but brimming with confidence by departure – and their small groups allow them to ensure you have sufficient time and guidance necessary to feel comfortable in the water.

PADI Open Water

This is the first course many divers take, and is an introduction to the basics of diving.  It is spread over four days and includes a mix of practical and theory tests that qualify you to dive up to 18 metres with a buddy.

PADI Advanced Open Water Course

The Advanced Open Water Course is more about diving and less about theory, arming divers with the practical skills to progress as a diver.  It consists of five dives, including a deep sea dive and an underwater navigation dive, as well as the option of a night dive.

PADI Rescue Diver Course

This course makes you better able to look after yourself and others in the case of an emergency.  It requires a first aid qualification before you start, so Nomad Divers also offer a one day Emergency First Response Course.

PADI Divemaster Course

This is your first real step towards becoming a professional diver, and can be completed in as little as three weeks.  This course can also be undertaken during an internship, allowing divers to gain invaluable experience working in a dive centre whilst enjoy the beauty of Bangka for longer thanks to reduced room rates and free dives.

A Self-Contained Community with an Excellent Beach Resort!

Sophie and Simon founded Nomad Divers with the dream of providing the best experience possible to their divers all the time, not just when they are in the water.  Their beach resort is designed with this mantra in mind – offering guests a self-contained community with everything you could need for an amazing trip.

They have a beautiful beachfront bar where you can relax and take in the views of Lembeh Island with delicious and original cocktails, a cold beer, or even a fresh coconut.  It is the perfect place to get to know your new family after a busy day of diving and just chill out.

All of your meals are provided by their fantastic cook, who serves up an array of delicious Minahasan dishes including traditional satay, chicken curries and barbequed fresh fish served with fresh local vegetables and, for the brave or the stupid, fiery sambal.  Homemade bread is always a favourite with guests, and nothing goes down better after a dive than a sweet treat or cake.

Accommodation is provided in traditional beach cottages built by local craftsmen.  They are simple but comfortable, with hammocks, large double beds, fans and en suite bathrooms.  Budget travellers can choose to stay in the Budget Bamboo Beach Cottage for a more rustic experience.  Keep your eyes out for resident tarsiers in the treetops around the centre!
